Green Google

If you weren’t already convinced that ‘Green is the New Black’, then check out the actions of Google who, following a similar announcement from Yahoo, have declared their intentions to go carbon neutral. Google, though have a bit of a head start, having started work a massive photovoltaic solar panel system last October. In typical Google fashion, you can now access live(ish) statistics for the solar panels online.

Act On CO2

Chances are, if you live in the UK, you’ve seen the government sponsored Act On CO2 TV adverts, featuring little engines on wheels, driving around like cars. The purpose of the campaign is to provide advice on how to reduce the emissions from your car journeys through ‘smarter driving’ and making a more informed decision when buying a new car.

Hallelujah, Here She Comes

After several months of Sarah being rather a silent partner as far as Mad Eejits is concerned, this week should (hopefully) see her first post on the site, as she returns to work from her maternity leave. The last 6 months have flown by for me, so I’m sure it seems twice as fast for her.

Just days after noting that Yahoo! was promoting Freecycle through its Mail service, comes the news that Yahoo has now launched its own Yahoo Green mini-site.

Carnival of the Green

I have to admit that until a few days ago, when it popped up on the Times Online blog ‘Eco Worrier’, I’d never heard of the Carnival of the Green. Its a fairly simple idea though and one which appears to have worked well over the last couple of years.

Yahoo Mail Plugs Freecycle

Freecycle Advert from Yahoo Mail

I did a double-take on spotting the above advert in my Yahoo Mail this morning. Freecycle, a recycling network, is run through Yahoo Groups, an advert supported service, so its not like Yahoo don’t have an interest in increasing the numbers of people signing up to the groups. However, its still great publicity for Freecycle.

TreeHugger Gets a Forum

Popular environmental website TreeHugger has recently increased its range of features with the addition of a forum for the discussion of all things green and not-so green.

Increase in Site Traffic

Over the last couple of days, the number of visitors to this site has really shot up. Could it be that everyone is interested in cheap compost bins? Well its possible, but I think its more likely to be the fact that the Mad Eejits site received an Editor’s Pick Award on W3C Sites and was then featured on MostInspired.com.
