What is an Eejit? 11 Jun 07
Every week it seems that we get 2 or 3 hits on this site from people who are searching for the meaning or definition of ‘eejit’ or ‘eejits’. It seems only fair then that we should provide these poor souls with the answer that they are seeking.
Eejit is simply a slang word, used in Ireland and parts of Scotland, which means ‘idiot’, with eejits being the plural. Generally, its considered less harsh than idiot and is often used in an affectionate manner.
To use ‘mad eejit’ is to really emphasise the point and could be applied to someone who is reckless, takes risks or is just plain daft. As for how we ended up with a site called Mad Eejits, well just read a few posts on here and you might figure it out.

It’s fun looking through the logs and seeing what search terms people use to find your site, isn’t it? I posted an article about home-made plant food by fermenting weeds (e.g. nettles, docks etc) in a bucket, and now I keep getting hits from hippies searching for “weed tea”

You are not alone! Further along the coast there are some real eejits! See “Ballyholland Airforce attacks Newry” on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jptaEx5Oelg
