Walking Worse for Planet than Driving?

It seems illogical, but that’s the claim made in a recent scientific report, featured in the Times. However, rather than being the ravings of an eco-skeptic, at the heart of the report is the well-reasoned argument that food production, and therefore how we fuel out bodies, has a greater impact on the environment than our cars.

The report also points out that whilst the government is investigating and/or taking measures to ‘tackle’ the effect of our driving and flying, very little seems said about the impact of food production.

Its certainly a thought-provoking article, especially coming at a time when, after a few years of eating very little red meat, I’ve been considering giving it up altogether.
