The Seasons Change 16 Oct 07
As if the falling leaves weren’t clue enough, today provided two signs that the colder weather is on its way.
One was simple enough. Today was the first morning that I’ve placed a bare foot on the tiled kitchen floor and wished that I’d put my slippers on. The things we must suffer to get the coffee brewing before jumping into the shower…
The second sign was more subtle. It was a smell. Cold weather gives the air a different smell and, as I stepped out of the office to go for a walk at lunchtime, there it was, the cold weather smell.
There’s a different smell again, when it gets cold enough for snow. Yet another when Spring is turning to Summer. There’s no definite, identifiable individual components to these smells, but once you know them, its hard to mistake them.
