May Day Fair 08 May 07
Yesterday, we took a trip to the May Day fair in Holywood, County Down, home to Ireland’s only Maypole. The fair had a Medieval theme and came complete with wandering minstrels, knights on horseback (who defended us from deadly watermelons) and all kinds of craft and produce stalls.
Unfortunately, the only thing that the organisers couldn’t control was the weather and with the onset of a heavy downpour around lunchtime, we bid a hasty retreat home.
