Daddy Day Care 01 Feb 08
Tonight Sarah heads off to a trade fair, leaving Ben and me to fend for ourselves for a week. Its the first time that either one of us has been away, leaving the other one ‘holding the baby’ and I’ll admit to being slightly nervous about it. Its not like I’ve never looked after Ben on my own before, but there’s never been an ‘overnight’ involved before, nevermind 7 of them.
To ease my worries and, as Sarah admits, her own feelings of guilt, she’s kindly pre-cooked a load of meals for Ben and placed them in the freezer, each labeled with the day corresponding to the menu we drew up together. Even I should be able to cope with that.
To supplement our usual child care, I’ve taken a couple of days off work and I’m looking forward to spending some more time with the little guy. Of course, with impeccable timing, Ben has recently found his feet and is attempting to walk everywhere and into everything, but as long as I remember to squeeze a nappy wash in somewhere (preferably before the clean ones run out), I’m sure the week will be grand.
Anyway, if I do get stuck, I know the Grandparents will be only too keen to help.
